Stone bruise is a bruise deep within the foot at the fat pad, usually caused when more pressure has been placed on that foot, such as when stepping on a hard object or when there has been been an impact injury. Also known as Metatarsalgia. The pain is commonly by the head of the metatarsals, but could also be in between the metatarsals as well.
Resting your foot and using compression cold will be a great way to help reduce that pain and inflammation. Time will be a factor in the healing process, but stimulating blood flow to the area without causing re-injury will definitely help decrease that time frame.
Resting as much as possible would be more beneficial, but for many people, not being able to walk makes things very difficult. Wearing a type of support will be great, such as a brace or compression tape to help support the injury while moving.
